This body of work, developed as a final major project, explores the tension between fragility and strength through abstract paper-and-plaster sculptures. Paper reflects vulnerability and instability, while plaster acts as a stabilising force, preserving and reinforcing form. Together, they create a quiet dialogue between resistance and surrender.

Each sculpture exists as an individual expression—delicate yet resilient, controlled yet unpredictable—emerging through processes that relinquish control. Collectively, the works form Taxonomy of Imperfection, an installation of 200 unique forms that shifts from individual gesture to systematic inquiry, examining repetition, accumulation, and the pursuit of perfection.

Inherently flawed, each piece resists resolution. These imperfections are essential, pointing to the impossibility of absolute control and suggesting that meaning lies not in refinement, but in persistence, variation, and the act of making itself.

'Taxonomy of Imperfection' was awarded Best Artwork of Fine Art at the University for the Creative Arts Graduate Show (2026). It is available for viewing at UCA until 24 June, and from 24–28 June a section of the work will be exhibited at OXO Gallery, London.
